Dr. Nazanin Alavi is Chair of the Division of Adult Psychiatry and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Queen’s University. She has also worked as a staff psychiatrist in the Mood and Anxiety Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Department of Psychiatry at University of Toronto. After completing her medical training at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Alavi completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Psychology Department at Queen’s university in the Mood Disorders lab. She then joined the residency training program in Psychiatry at Queen’s University and graduated in 2016.
In September 2021 she was appointed as the co-program medical director and co-psychiatrist in chief at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC).
Dr. Alavi’s research focuses on the effectiveness of online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. She has been designing an online platform for delivering online psychotherapy.
